Why Lilyan months begin with the New Moon
The Moon sets the rhythm, and the calendar records it in ordinary dates.
Civil months have fixed names and mostly fixed lengths. The Moon moves through them without controlling where they begin.
Lilyan months begin from the New Moon. When a New Moon falls within a Bonn solar day, that day opens a new Lilyan month.
Because the Moon does not fit neatly into a fixed number of civil days, Lilyan months are usually 29 or 30 days long. The calendar is still practical, but it lets the Moon decide when the page turns.
