Months
The names of the Lilyan months
The month names give the year a seasonal vocabulary.
Lilyan month names are not just labels for numbered boxes. They give the year a sequence of seasonal images and make dates easier to remember.
Maiden, Dawn, Bliss, Lily, Sol, Blaze, Holt, Luna, Abyss, Lux, Frost, and Dolt form the ordinary twelve month set. In a thirteen month year, Second Frost appears as the extra winter month.
A named date such as Bliss 23 carries more texture than Month 3, Day 23. The number is still useful, but the name makes the date easier to speak and recognize.
In short
- Ordinary years have twelve named months.
- Second Frost appears only in thirteen month years.
- Month numbers remain available for lookup and sorting.
